Driving Into Manhattan Is the Expensive Option
New York City Chauffeur Service is a pre-booked car service: every trip is a reservation with an assigned chauffeur and a flat rate agreed before you travel, not a car hailed from an app. New York is a city that charges you to come in, fines you for stopping, and has nowhere convenient to put your car once you arrive. The Hudson River crossings are tolled eastbound. Manhattan below 60th Street sits inside a congestion charging zone. Curbs across the city are tightly regulated and actively enforced, which is why a car cannot simply idle outside a restaurant waiting for you. And a garage for an evening frequently costs more than people expect.
None of that is a problem when someone else is handling it. A chauffeur drops you at the door, moves the vehicle, and comes back when you call. You do not circle for parking, you do not walk four blocks from a garage in the rain, and you do not stand on a corner at eleven at night hoping an app finds you a car.

Which Crossing, and Why It Matters
There are three ways into Manhattan from New Jersey and they do not serve the same city. Choosing wrong costs twenty minutes on a good day.

Hudson River crossings are tolled eastbound only — you pay going into New York, not coming home. Port Authority passenger-car tolls in 2026 are $16.79 with E-ZPass at peak and $14.79 off peak, where peak means weekdays from six to ten in the morning and four to eight in the evening, and weekends from eleven in the morning to nine at night. Tolls appear on your invoice at cost.

What the Rate Covers, and What It Doesn't
We quote a flat rate for your route and vehicle class before the reservation is confirmed. That rate does not change because traffic was heavy, because your flight was late, or because you booked during a busy week. There is no meter and no surge multiplier.
Two things sit outside it. Tolls and parking are passed through at cost and added to the final invoice — no markup, but not buried in the rate either. And where a trip enters Manhattan's congestion relief zone, at and below 60th Street, any charge applied to the vehicle is passed through the same way.
Extras are quoted up front when you ask for them. Meet and greet is $30 plus parking. Child seats are $30 per seat and must be requested when you book. Waiting beyond the complimentary period is billed in fifteen-minute intervals at a rate we tell you in advance.
Frequently Asked Questions
How far in advance should I book?
As early as you can, particularly for Sprinter vans, weekend evenings and holiday periods, where availability rather than price is the constraint. We do take short-notice reservations when a vehicle is free, so it is worth calling 844-441-0003 even if your timing is tight.
Do you operate stretch limousines or party buses?
No. Our fleet is executive sedans, full-size SUVs and Mercedes-Benz Sprinter vans. For most work in New York that is the more practical vehicle class anyway — easier through traffic, easier at a venue kerb, and more appropriate for business travel. If you specifically need a stretch limousine, we will tell you plainly that we are not the right operator rather than waste your time.
Can the car wait for me while I'm inside?
On an hourly booking, yes — the vehicle stays with you for the booked period. On a point-to-point booking the chauffeur is released after drop-off, so if your day involves several stops or an uncertain finish, hourly is usually both simpler and cheaper.
What happens if my flight is delayed?
We track the flight and adjust the pickup. A delay does not change your quoted rate. Complimentary waiting is 45 minutes after landing for domestic arrivals and 60 minutes for international, measured from when the aircraft actually lands rather than from the scheduled time.
Do you provide child seats?
Yes, at $30 per seat. Tell us each child's age and weight when you book so the correct seat is fitted in advance — they cannot reliably be arranged on the day.
What payment methods do you accept?
All major credit and debit cards, including Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Discover. Payment is processed at the time of booking and your reservation is confirmed once it goes through.
Car service, chauffeur service, black car — what's the difference?
In practice, very little. Car service, chauffeur service, black car service and executive car service all describe the same arrangement: a vehicle and a professional driver, reserved in advance for a specific time, at a price agreed before the trip. The terms are regional habit more than anything else. New Yorkers tend to say car service, corporate travel departments tend to say chauffeur service, and both mean what we do.
What none of them means is a limousine in the stretch sense. Our vehicles are executive sedans, full-size SUVs and Mercedes-Benz Sprinter vans — the vehicles businesses and families actually book. If you are looking for a stretch limousine or a party bus, we are not the right operator.
The distinction that does matter is pre-booked versus on-demand. A rideshare app assigns whoever is nearby at the moment you ask, at whatever the price is at the moment you ask. A car service assigns a specific chauffeur to a specific reservation at a rate fixed in advance. That is the difference you are actually choosing between.
